Obituary of Irene Martha Scharlach

Allan and Jim Scharlach announce the end of earthly life of their mother, Irene Martha. Her life began on March 2nd, 1918 and ended Friday, January 26, 2018, 5 weeks before her 100th birthday.

Irene was the last surviving member of her family. She was the daughter of Rev. Albert Orzen and Valerie (nee Herzberger) and loving wife of the late Rudy Scharlach. Also predeceased by her brothers Karl and Albert and her niece Joan Lancaster.

During their marriage Irene and Rudy had 2 sons, Allan (Elaine) and Jim (Donna). She was blessed with 3 grandchildren, Joel (Katie) of Belgium, Marti-Anne (Bruce) and Adrienne. A further blessing was 4 great grandchildren Joshua, Daisy, Rylan and Cole. She has surviving a niece Carolyn Wilson and a nephew David. Irene also had good friends in the Gibney and Soanes families.

Irene enjoyed travelling to the U.S., Europe and across Canada. She also enjoyed many aspects of nature, especially in Jim's garden. Her working time apart from being mother and wife, was spent at Sattler's leather store, Goudies and Budd's department stores.

Irene and Rudy were charter members of Holy Cross Lutheran Church where her faith in Christ was nourished through word and sacrament.

Jim and Allan invite you to a service marking the beginning of her life to its completion in the Resurrection. The service will be at Historic St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 137 Queen St. S., Kitchener on Friday, February 2, 2018 at 2 p.m.

A heartfelt thank you to the caring staff from University Gates during our mothers stay.
