Cynthia, Scott and family. My sincere condolences in the loss of your Mom.
Vanda was a very special lady to our family. There seemed to be an instant connection when "The Vails" moved into the house across the street on MacGregor Crescent. Over the many decades that took place after that, Vanda became my Mom's (Joan Thorpe) best friend. Mom often referred to Vanda as the sister she never had.
Vanda was with me at Sunnyside when Mom passed away and I couldn't imagine how I would have gotten through those few days without her.
I have so many fond memories of Vanda that I will cherish forever. Rest in peace.

Vanda - what a beautiful woman inside and out! She oozed kindness, compassion, wisdom and generosity. She was such a reflection of God's love to the world. One special memory relates to her kindness in babysitting Hannah so I could have a first date with the man who became my husband! She was in such demand as a babysitter ... but somehow she always found time for one more assignment. And Hannah (7yrs at the time) was so excited that VANDA was going to spend the evening with her!
There's a quote (by the Dalai Lama?) that goes like this: "The planet does not need more successful people. The planet desperately needs more peacemakers, healers, restorers, storytellers and lovers of all kinds."
Vanda was that kind of person and Heaven is an even more beautiful place now that she's there!
Will always be grateful that we knew you in some small way, Vanda. And our heartfelt condolences to all your family.

Thank you Vanda for our times together, most recently at our reminisces last month about your early days in Canada.
We have spent many years doing the same caring as Hospice volunteers and Freeport palliative volunteers.
We learned a lot from each other, and I will always remember our friendship fondly.

My prayers are with all of Vanda’s family. We used to attend the same church, Lincoln Heights, where she was a strong mentor to me in my teenage years. She inspired me greatly and always spoke words of comfort, encouragement, and blessing over me. Every time we spoke, she had a new hymn on her heart she wanted to bless me with... her favourite lyric she’d quote to me was, “And He walks with me, and He talks with me, and He tells me I am His own.” I have great memories with her I’ll cherish forever. My deepest condolences to you all.
