Shawn was always our friend and we had many fun times together in Brantford and Kitchener. We were elated when Shawn and Cindy tied the knot and we knew that he would always treat Cindy with the respect she deserved. We will always miss his humour and good natured outlook on life. Love ya buddy.. Until we meet again.

Dear Cindy and family;
I'm deeply saddened by Shawn's passing and can only imagine the depth of your loss. I cherished Shawn, as my cousin and my friend. He was a very special person and one of the most kind, loving, and selfless people that I've ever know. Like my Dad, Shawn's uncle, Shawn had the ability to make people feel heard and important. A rare quality.
This is a testament to the heart of this man, whom Life handed some very difficult times. He did not become hard and bitter, but had the courage and fortitude and wisdom to transform all of those hard times into compassion and strength. I know that Shawn helped many people although he would never talk about that. He was one of a kind and the world is poorer for having lost him. (although maybe that is never the case! That love keeps Shining.)
I hope that simple comforts and taking it one day at a time will ease the pain you carry now. .. and that over time the beautiful memories and all of the love that you and Shawn shared will heal your heart. It was so easy to see that you and Shawn shared such an incredible love and had a truly beautiful relationship.
With prayers and much love,
Always your cousin and friend,
Kim Treftlin
