It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Gasper Miotto on Thursday, February 22nd, 2018 following a lengthy illness. John will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary Isabel of 41 years. He faced each moment of his illness with strong determination, great courage and strength. John was born in Arba, Italy in 1943 to the late Luigi and Irma Miotto.Loving brother of Marisa (Peter) Haensel and Judy (Brian) Duench and brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Donald (Ruthann) Pugh and David (Barbara) Pugh. He will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews and their families, relatives here and in Italy as well as many life-long friends and neighbours.
John’s favorite pastimes were football, the Toronto Blue Jays, Nascar races, and fishing. John loved his mystery novels and always enjoyed a good vodkamartini. Together John and Isabel enjoyed a long and happy life filled with many wonderful trips. John retired from Bell Canada, was a Bell Canada Pioneer member and former member of CortinaClub for many years. John enjoyed a life filled with wonderful family, friends and neighbours.
We express sincere gratitude to the doctors, specialists, nursing staff and support staff at Grand River Hospital, who served us with such professionalism and compassionate care throughout this challenging journey.
Friends and family are invited to share their memories of John at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, Monday, February 26th, 2018 from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. and from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. A service will be held the following day in the funeral home chapel on Tuesday, February 27th, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. followed by a reception. Cremation will follow. A private family internment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to Grand River Cancer Centre, St. Mary’s Cardiac Care Centre and if desired a donation of blood to the Canadian Blood Services would be welcome.
He will be sadly missed but forever in our hearts. X
