Obituary of Nora Shantz
Passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Derbecker’s Heritage House, St. Jacobs, at the age of 94.
Survived by: sisters; Myrtle Stricker, and Mildred Scheerer, as well as an extended family of nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by best friend Idella Wagler (1976). Parents: Amsy and Luella (Kinsie) Shantz. Brothers: John, Arthur, Harold. Sisters: Vera Kipfer, and Alice Bauman.
Nora was employed at Electrohome for over 40 years and served as a supervisor. Nora was recognized as an outstanding volunteer by the Provincial Government for her work at Fairview Mennonite Home and other volunteer organizations in the local community. Throughout her life Nora was an involved member of First Mennonite Church, Kitchener. In 1983 Nora moved to Woodland Terrace Retirement Home, Waterloo, where she had many friends, was actively involved with the Super 60’s Program and fellowshipped at First Baptist Church.
Nora will be ever lovingly remembered by Gloria & Larry Snyder and family, and Myra & Don Brunk and family. Also remembered by the Klassen’s, Bechtel’s, and other “Wagler” families.
A special thank you to Derbecker’s Heritage House for the excellent care Nora received over the past nine years.
Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Nora with her family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 from 12 – 12:45 p.m. followed by a Memorial Service in the chapel of the funeral home at 1 p.m. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home. Interment of cremated remains to follow reception at First Mennonite Church cemetery, Kitchener.
