Obituary of Lily Edit Forler

Passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday March 4, 2018 at the age of 87. Beloved wife of the late Richard Forler (1980), Lily was born in Waterloo to Nicholas and Kaethe Schroeder (née Cornies) on December 20, 1930.

Lily thought her greatest legacy was her children, grandchildren, and great-grandson. Loved and cherished by her sons Jeffrey (Daphne) Forler, Michael (Carolyn) Forler and Peter Forler (Ramona Mitchell). Dear Oma of Sarah, Katie (Adam) McLellan, Alison, Scott, Ian, Becca (Jordan Brobyn), Jillian and Rachel (Brad Damiano) and “Grosse Oma” to Jacob McLellan. Fondly remembered by her brothers-in-law Arthur Forler, Brian Forler and Abe Bergen, and sisters-in-law Bette Fowler and Wendy Forler. Her many nieces and nephews, and longtime neighbourhood friend Shirley brought Lily so much joy.

Predeceased by her twin sister Lucy (Bruce) Dowsett, Marg (Dinty) Moore and Karin Bergen.

Lily was very involved with her Bridge and Wohelo Clubs, Super Senior’s fitness, the Red Hat Society, and devoted 22 years to The Centre In the Square working as an Usher. Lily was a long-standing member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Kitchener, where she volunteered regularly with the Loaves & Fishes Food Pantry. Lily always loved being surrounded by her family and friends, to whom she brought so much happiness.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Lily with her family during visitation at Erb & Good Family Funeral Home located at 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday March 9, 2018 from 2:00 – 5:00pm & 7:00 – 9:00pm. The funeral service will be held in the Chapel at Erb & Good on Saturday March 10, 2018 at 11:00am. Reception to immediately follow the service in the Fireside Reception Room. A private family interment will be held on a later date at Memory Gardens in Breslau, where Lily will be placed alongside her late husband.
