Obituary of Jane Isabel O'Drowsky

Jane passed away at St. Mary’s General Hospital, Kitchener on Sunday, March 11, 2018 at the age of 80, with Thomas, her best friend and adoring husband of close to 58 years, by her side.

 

Jane will be lovingly remembered by her son Paul, his wife Patricia and their children Colby, Clayton, Bailey (Tye) as well as her daughter Kathleen and her children Everett and Charlotte, her great-grandchildren Austin and Maverik, and her daughter-in-law Nathalie. 

 

Her brother David, his wife Lynne, sister-in-law Patricia and her husband, Ron and her many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, friends and neighbours also mourn her passing. 

 

Jane was predeceased by her son Michael (2016), son-in-law Stephen (2013), parents William Alton Bennett and Isabel Scott, brother Fred, sister Betty-Ann, brother-in-law John and his wife, Helen. 

 

A dedicated nurse until the 1970s, including five years in the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, she then helped found the 822 Tutor Squadron Royal Canadian Air Cadets. Jane has been donating her time and talents for many years. The Knights of Columbus and the Guardian Angels’ charitable works benefited greatly from thousands of knit hats and mittens. Her children and grandchildren will forever cherish her quilts. 

 

Jane’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, March 19, 2018 from 7-9 p.m. and on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 10-10:45 a.m.  A memorial service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday.  A reception will immediately follow the service in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room.

Finally, Tom and his children wish to express their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors and nurses on the 5th Floor at St. Mary’s General Hospital for the care Jane received, especially for the warmth and compassion so readily shown by nurse David.
