Obituary of Claude William Hillier

HILLIER, CLAUDE

Passed away peacefully at the Village of Winston Park on Saturday, March 17, 2018 at the age of 90 years.

Predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel, and son, Mark. Claude is survived by his sons Eric (Bev), Keith (Claire), Jim (Marianne), and Brian; grandsons James (Riki) and Ian (Sam); great-grandson Leif; and brother Frank in Nova Scotia.

He was also predeceased by sisters Doreen and Dorcas; brothers Freeman and Aubrey.

Claude was born in Lamaline, NL in 1927. He came to the KW area in 1945 where he was re-united with his future wife, Ethel Pittman, who was also from Lamaline. He was a long-time employee of Inter-City Welding Supplies and was a member of Forest Hill United Church where he served on the maintenance committee for many years. Claude enjoyed square dancing with Ethel and, in his later years, with his partner, Ruth Kramp (deceased). Claude was definitely a handy-man and liked to keep busy. He was not averse to tackling any type of job around the home for himself, his sons, and any friends or acquaintances that needed help.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Claude with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Tuesday, March 20, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held in the chapel of the funeral home on Wednesday, March 21 at 1:30 pm.  Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room. Interment at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.

Claude's family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Winston Park for their care and support provided to Claude during his time both as a retirement resident and as a resident of Emma's Neighbourhood.
