We humbly beseech your mercy, O Lord, for your servant Derek, that having worked tirelessly for the spread of the Gospel, he may merit to enter into the rewards of the Kingdom. Amen. We were privileged to meet Derek some 12 years back at Our Lady of Lourdes, I was newly ordained and preached, before the assembled people of God. In his gracious way, he made it a point to thank me for my service and extended a warm gesture of companionship, to a naive servant of God, me. He embodied the value of welcoming the stranger, to all and every person he encountered. His gift of storytelling along with his love for his wife and family made him a true evangelizer - spreading God's love. Later, he would invite me to the many events he happened to be participating or performing in. May the family, be consoled as they mourn his loss while celebrating such a unique and extraordinary creation of God. Rest my servant, for your good deeds go before you.
