James Munro

Obituary of James Bruce Munro

At the proud age of 60, Jim left us after a brief illness to join his cherished parents, the late Ian and Lorraine Munro, and his big brother Larry.

Jim was born in Wawa in 1958 and lived in Sault Ste. Marie and Waterloo. He was a proud graduate of GRCI and a diligent worker at the K-W Habilitation Services Workshop, Burger King, White Rose Nursery and Good Life Fitness. Jim loved to work, but thoroughly enjoyed his well-earned retirement by indulging his passion for soap operas full time. Jim was proud of his bowling skills and his 48-year tenure at Camp Belwood. He took particular pride in his age of 60, having had the opportunity to celebrate this long-awaited event in January with many family and friends.

Jim was predeceased by his father Ian, mother Lorraine and big brother Larry. He will be lovingly missed by his sister Marge Bates (Ken,) brothers Andrew and Rob (Tonya,) sister-in-law Rose Munro, numerous nieces and nephews and many friends. Jim’s father Ian said that Jim was the best thing that ever happened to his family. None who knew Jim or experienced the way the family was drawn together by his humour, good natured teasing or unrestrained dancing will ever dispute that.

Jim’s family would like to express our gratitude to Westmount Chartwell, and particularly to Yvonne, for their friendship and loving care during Jim’s stay.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Jim with his family during a memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, April 9, 2018 from 2 – 4 & 7 – 9 p.m. A Memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, April 10, 2018 at 1 p.m. at St. Michael’s RC Church, 240 Hemlock St. Waterloo.
