Obituary of William Raymond Bean

William “Bill” Raymond Bean, 79, of Waterloo, Ontario passed away Saturday, May 12, 2018 at Grand River Hospital, the result of a fall.  Born July 7, 1938, in Kitchener, Ontario, he was the eldest child of the late Captain William M. Bean and Marjorie (Raymond) Bean.  He married the late Rosalyn “Roz” J. From in 1962, with whom he enjoyed an amazing marriage until her death in 2000.

A deeply caring man, Bill’s greatest joy was his family, of whom he was extremely proud.  He was the beloved father and father-in-law of Sherri and Don Henrich of New Hamburg, Paul and Doris Bean of Waterloo, Geanna Bean Bates and Jay Parson of Kitchener, and Scott Bean and Lana Zincone of Kitchener and Waterloo.  Dear Grampa of Tyler, Ryan (Nikki), and Zachary (Nicky) Henrich; Billy (Rebecka Grenier), Anita (Cameron Ritchie), Jesse (Kristen Clarke) Bean, and Samantha Bean remembered; Summer Bates; Connor, Spencer, Flynn and Avery Bean.  Bill is survived by his sister Judith Bean (Don Mitton) of Flesherton, brother Jim Bean (Beverly Yates) of Callander, On, and sister Joan Edenborough of West Montrose, as well as many nieces and nephews.

In the late sixties, Bill began a long and successful career in the roofing industry.  Before he retired from his position as President of Garland Canada Inc., he had the pleasure of watching the business grow and flourish as a direct result of his hard work and consummate leadership.  A man of great integrity, Bill treated his customers and his staff with great respect and appreciation, inspiring profound loyalty from all.

An incredibly charming man, Bill loved golf, poker, looking sharp, date squares, Honey Harbour, fishing, Blues music, Cadillacs, a good laugh, spy novels, not looking after the yard, World of Warcraft, balancing his chequebook, Crown Royal, dancing, and above all, his family.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Bill with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday May 17, 2018 from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m. The funeral service will be held Friday May 18 at 11 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment to follow at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo. Reception to follow at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #530,  316 Marsland Drive, Waterloo.

The family wishes to express their deepest gratitude to the compassionate and thoroughly professional doctors and nurses at Grand River Hospital who made it their mission to make Bill’s last days as comfortable as possible.  As an expression of sympathy, a random act of kindness or a donation made to a charity of choice would be appreciated.
