Obituary of Howard George Payne

Passed away at the K-W Campus of Grand River Hospital, Kitchener, on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 78.

Beloved husband of Elizabeth (nee Kaufman). Dear father of Edward (Ted), Richard and his wife Laurraine (nee Carroll). Cherished Grampie to Jessica and Sarah. Survived by his sister Barbara (Wright) and her daughter Diana (Dave Stock). Brother-in-law to Jim and Cathy Kaufman, Nancy MacAlpine (Ken). Uncle to Jay and Tristin, Amanda and Daniel. “Gordparent” to Gordon Dowling, along with close family friend Michael Dowling.

Predeceased by his parents Margaret and Edward Payne. Brothers-in-law John Kaufman, Edgar Wright and his daughter Suzanne. Howie was a member of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church and an active steward of his community, serving as scout leader, house parent at St. Agatha Children’s Village, WRPS auxiliary Constable and volunteer for the House of Friendship.

Howie will be missed by the roadside clean-up crew. Special thanks to all of the caregivers, family, friends and neighbours for assisting him in his final days.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Howard with his family during memorial visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, May 28, 2018 from 10 – 10:45 a.m. A Memorial Service will follow at 11 a.m.in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow in the Fireside Room of the funeral home.
