Obituary of Floyd "Mike" Foerster

Mike passed away peacefully with family by his side on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Barnswallow Place in Elmira at the age of 91.  He was born August 13, 1926 and was the son of the late Martha (Cassel) and Albert Foerster.

Loving husband of Marion Foerster (nee Ross) for almost 65 years.

Dear father of Debbie (Robert) Reiner, Julie (Brian) Heckendorn, Shelley (Mark) Erb and Carrie Foerster (Mark Israel).

Grandfather to Jenna Reiner (Justin), Geoff Reiner (Steph), Amy Forwell (Derrick), Michael Heckendorn (Stacey), Kim Erb (Iain), Stephanie Gunn (Ben), Katelyn Israel and Abbey Israel.

Also survived by his 12 great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by his siblings, Joe, Howard and Evelyn (Bert Black).

Mike was born, raised and was a life long resident in Elmira.  He owned and operated Mike’s Auto Body in Elmira for many years.  Mike played for the Elmira Polar Kings and was always a hockey enthusiast.  Mike was also an avid solo card player.  He belonged to the Elmira Men’s Bowling League, Elmira Curling Club and was a member of town council.  In his retirement, he enjoyed following his race horses to the track.  He enjoyed many years at their family cottage on Belwood Lake where many good times were enjoyed by all his family and friends.

A private family celebration of Mike’s life will take place.
