Obituary of Immacolata DeCicco

Immacolata DeCicco

December 1, 1933 - September 5, 2018

Immacolata DeCicco (Gina), loving mother and nonna, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. She is survived by her four children, Andrew DeCicco (Christie), Cristina Ramirez (Everardo), Maria Speyer (Chris) and Jenny DeCicco (James) and her eleven grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her family will miss her wisdom, elegance, tenacity and her distinctly Neapolitan sense of humour. She was predeceased by her husband, Ciro, in 2009.

Gina and Ciro left Naples, Italy in 1967, when they immigrated to Waterloo with their four young children. Gina’s passion, perseverance and entrepreneurial spirit lead her to open Gina’s Health and Beauty Spa. This would become the first venture in her beauty empire, with Gina’s College of Advanced Aesthetics and Intercosmetics succeeded by her daughters and grandchildren. Through her decades in business, thousands of clients, students and the many employees who carry on her legacy, Gina touched the lives of more people than she even knew.

Gina leaves behind a legacy of love, resilience and indomitable strength. Her family and friends are comforted by memories of joyful times around the kitchen table. Her extraordinary cooking, her respect for tradition and her appreciation for aesthetics left a deep impression on all those close to her. The DeCicco family would like the thank all the doctors, nurses and especially her caregivers for their tireless efforts to ensure Gina spent her final years in comfort and grace.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Gina with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St S, Waterloo, on Friday September 7th, from 5pm - 8pm.
