Obituary of Ruth Leota Schaefer

Passed away peacefully at The Westmount Long Term Care Centre, on Friday, October 26, 2018 at the age of 81 years.

Ruth was predeceased by her parents Norman “Jake” (1901-1979) and Leota (nee Miller) Schaefer (1902-1991) and she is survived by her goddaughter Wendy Gibbards as well as many loving cousins.

Ruth was involved with St. John’s Lutheran Church and the Waterloo Lutheran Seminary for many years. She worked at the Y.W.C.A. and the Synod office. She also volunteered in the gift shop at Grand River Hospital. Ruth used her gift of music entertaining residents at Conestoga Lodge and Victoria Place as well as other retirement homes.

Visitation will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street South, Waterloo on Thursday November 8, 2018 from 10 am – 10:45 am.  The funeral service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 11:00 am. Reception to follow and Interment at Mount Hope, Waterloo.
