Uncle Earl is an amazing individual that I had the honour in getting to know by becoming a member of his family when his nephew David Spearn and I became a couple. I always felt welcome in his home and enjoyed many holiday and special occasion family gatherings. Personal visits were always special as he would share adventures new and old which were just a fascinating part of his life shared with me. He will be truly missed. He was the glue in the family always wanting to bring us together. I am sure some where in heaven he is getting caught up with his brother and sisters that have gone before him. Rest In Peace dear uncle Earl. Thank you for being a part of my life. I will so miss you. Until we meet again. Love Linda

Uncle Earl had a keen interest in his nieces and nephews, along with many other wonderful things.
I remember his Christmas parties fondly, the earlier years at Angie's Kitchen as well as the more intimate holiday celebration at his charming home.
He had a big heart and smile to match, I remember that twinkle in his eye too. He was a beautiful human being, living life to the fullest and will be missed by many.

I first met Earl in 1958 when I was 21 when he directed me in Life With Mother for KWLT...He became a great friend, generous with his time. Over the years, he was to become a mentor, an older brother, someone who cared, a therapist who would patiently listen to my problems in our long telephone conversations every Friday night, When he phoned me on Nov 9th to say goodbye...I was devastated. But I've since come to terms with his decision. Needless to say I will miss him terribly. Sleep now dear Prince...

The black and white photo shows Earl as he directed me in "Life With Mother" for KWLT in 1958. I always thought he looked like Tyrone Power. The color photo was taken in 2014 in the foyer of his condo.

And as for fortune, and as for fame
I never invited them in
Though it seemed to the world they were all I desired
They are illusions, they're not the solutions they promised to be
The answer was here all the time
I love you, and hope you love me
Friend to my father ; mentor and confidant to his son.
I love you and will hold you close to my heart.
Always.
Rest now there is no more to say.

This is from 2001. Earl was such a cherished member of our family also. So wonderfully joyful, adding flowers for our weddings, and love and support for all our achievements as young people. He travelled the world with our parents and added his support to all they did. We were so blessed to have him in our lives. Whether we were dropping off tomatos from the garden, or picking him up for an adventure you could depend on him to brighten the event, and everyone there. I will miss him very much, as will all of the MacKay Clan, most especially my parents Don & Esther will miss his beautiful smile, and his company.

I have so many wonderful memories of Earl over the years. I was lucky enough to do some volunteer work with Earl and see how his incredible creative talents would bring a space to life. Earl's was a life fully lived and embraced, he left his mark and he will be missed.
