Predeceased by her loving husband Joseph Helfinger and treasured son Edward Helfinger.
Born on January 19, 1924 in a small farming village of Bessarabia Romania, Lilly and her family fled the war, ultimately to Germany. In post war Germany Lilly accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Saviour and Lord and continued to live for Him all the many blessed years of her life. Her faith was a testimony to all who knew her and a legacy for her family.
On February 9, 1951, Lilly along with her brother Emil immigrated to Medicine Hat Alberta. There Lilly found great joy in greenhouse work where she learned to drive the tractor, although ultimately never learned to drive a car.
Lilly married Joseph Helfinger in June 1958 and settled in the Kitchener-Waterloo region to raise a family. Lilly’s children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were the love of her life. Besides her family Lilly enjoyed various handcrafts (knitting, crocheting), cake decorating, gardening and activities of Central Baptist Church in Kitchener. Lilly spent her last years in Trinity Village Studios and her last days at Hospice Wellington in Guelph where she received excellent care, for which we are grateful.
