Obituary of Catherine Ann Naese

With deep sadness we announce that Ann passed away on Sunday December 2, 2018 at Grand River Hospital from complications of the breast cancer she had been struggling with for some time. She was 65 years of age. Married since 1976 to Olaf Naese, Ann was his beloved best friend. Fondly remembered by brother Ian McIntosh, sister-in-law Sandra Carty, brother-in-law Chris (Yvonne) Naese, nieces Karen McIntosh (Tyler Finlayson), Laura Feeney (James), Chloe Naese, as well as cousins, grand nieces and nephews and also special friends Gerry and Cathy Rehberg. Predeceased by parents Allan and Catherine (McKay) McIntosh and parents-in-law Gunter and Ilse Naese.

A native of Owen Sound, Ann graduated from the University of Guelph with a degree in Geography. She spent her career with the University of Waterloo Library, holding positions in the University Map and Design Library and Cataloguing Department then eventually becoming Manager, Collections Maintenance, Circulation Services. She retired from the University in 2012.

Ann was an avid reader, loved babies, and cooking. She particularly enjoyed preparing dinners for family and friends. Summers and many weekends were spent at the cottage in Southampton where much of her time involved gardening, biking, and going for long walks.

Friends are invited to a casual, drop in reception at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Sunday December 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. Condolences to the family and donations to the Canadian Breast Cancer Society may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.

Heartfelt thanks to the nurses, doctors, and staff of the 6th floor oncology, wing A at Grand River Hospital for their compassionate care of Ann during the days and nights she spent there. Also, thanks to the nurses and PSWs of ParaMed Home Health Care.
