Obituary of Al P. Berlet
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Monday, December 10th, 2018, at Columbia Forest LTC, Waterloo at the age of 92.
Loving Dad to Kim McPhee and her husband, Paul of Strathroy and Gail and her husband Mark Kuehl of Waterloo. Much loved Grandpa to Ryan and Kyle -the joy of his life. Loving companion of Audrey Janda for over 25 years.
Predeased by his wife, Delores (Gooding) in 1977, his parents Valentine and Catherine Berlet and 9 brothers and sisters, Marion (infancy), Edwin, Lorne, Carl, Ken, Don, Ruth, Marie and Viola.
Al was the first 70 year member of the Brick and Allied Craftsmen Union, (BACU Local 12). He was a proud stone mason all his life - he was great at it and he loved his work. Al loved dogs, especially all the German Shepherds the family had. The family enjoyed many summers at the cottage Al built near Southampton, and in later years, he loved travelling with Audrey through Canada and the States, golfing whenever he could. He made many great friends along the way and loved to laugh. What an infectious laugh he had too! And we can't forget he was a lifelong fan of the Montreal Canadiens.
Cremation has taken place. Friends are invited to share their memories of Al with his family at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S. Waterloo on Friday, December 14, 2018 from 1pm – 2pm followed by a Celebration of Life service at 2 pm in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Rich Kopanke from Faith Missionary Church officiating. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room.
Condolences for the family and donations to the Canadian Legion, Waterloo Branch are appreciated and may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519 745 8445. Dad, your legacy lives on in your family forever.
