Obituary of LeRoy Frank Johnson

Passed away peacefully at The Village at University Gates LTC, Waterloo on Sunday December 16, 2018, at the age of 77.

LeRoy Frank Johnson was a professor, engineer, poet. Born in 1941, he started his career as an engineer at Canadian Marconi, then CAE, both in Montreal. When a brand new field called computer science appeared in the sixties, he did graduate work at the University of Waterloo. He then left Waterloo to become a professor of Computer Science at the University of New Brunswick in 1971. Poetry was his love from early on. He owned and rode several horses in dressage and hunter jumper events. LeRoy is a direct descendant of John Mercer Johnson, one of the Fathers of Confederation for New Brunswick.

He is survived by his wife Ingelore, neé Werner; daughter Karen Hagberg (husband Staffan); daughter Annica Guhr (husband Stephen); grandchildren Benjamin, Julia, Elena, Bennett; siblings Heather, Clyde, Wayne, Stephanie.

The staff and residents at University Gates Long Term Care remember him as witty and lovable - most of the time. We wish to thank you for the wonderful care and support given to LeRoy over the past 3 years.
