Obituary of Brian James Robertson
Brian James Robertson passed away at Grand River Hospital on Monday, December 17, 2018 at 68 years of age with his wife of twenty-one years, Gail, at his side. Brian was born in Ellon, Scotland on the 18th of January 1950, the son of James Robertson and Dorothy Fidler (nee: McAndrew), both of whom have previously passed.
Along with his wife Gail, Brian is survived by sons Scott (Jennie), and Mike, as well as step-daughter Stacie (Jeremy) and step-son James (Danielle), brother Allan (Judy) and sister Jean. Grandchildren Jacob, Angus and Lochlan were a source of great joy and amusement for Brian. He will also be dearly missed by grandnephews Alex, Matt and Jake, who have enjoyed countless sleep-overs at Thorndale Drive.
Carpenter, golfer, Scotsman, proud Canadian, honorary Cape Bretoner, simple man. Sometimes the people that matter most to us shine a low light rather than a bright one. And so it was with Brian Robertson. A man of few words, but never words spoken foolishly or with even a hint of malice. An all-round nice guy who was happy to live simply and to live every moment with strength and determination, complaining little and just putting one foot in front of the other day after day. An admirable, enviable performance on the stage of Life for many of us. Rest well dear soul, it is well-deserved.
Details for a Celebration of Life will be determined at a later date. Cremation has taken place. It was Brian’s wish that his ashes be spread along the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton, a place where he enjoyed being with family, golfing and the scenic views, which were no doubt a reminder of his Scottish birthplace.
