Obituary of Arend Steenbeek

Passed away peacefully at Innisfree House, Kitchener on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the age of 79 years.

Born on November 5, 1939 in Wijk bij Duurstede, Netherlands.

Dearly loved husband of Olga Steenbeek (Hartholt) for 51 years.

He will be missed by his siblings Ank (Jaap) Vos and John (Eve) Steenbeek.

Lovingly remembered by his children Renata (Rob) Kuipery, Wayne Steenbeek

(Ann Marie Downey), Rob (Sarah) Steenbeek and Al (Sandy) Steenbeek.

His life will forever be cherished by his grandchildren, Rachel, Ryan, Megan, Jordan, Tristan, Brooklynn, Taylor, Kelstin and Kylee.

Predeceased by his parents Wieger Steenbeek (2001) and Nel Van de Beld (2002) and brother Andy (Ina-2006) Steenbeek (2017)

Arend immigrated to Ontario when he was 18 years old eventually settling into Kitchener with Olga.

He was employed by Raytheon Canada for more then 34 years.

Together Olga and Arend made some trips home to the Netherlands. Camping became an annual vacation they enjoyed with their children and friends in Sauble Beach.

He was a passionate person and enjoyed to share his love for birds, soccer, swimming, walking and reading.

Arend was strong in his faith to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to whom he was devoted to even in his final days.

Thank you to the staff at Innisfree House for the excellent care provided. He was truly blessed to be there for his final weeks.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Arend with his family during visitation at Community Christian Reformed Church, 1275 Bleams Rd, Kitchener on Wednesday, January 2, 2019 from 3 – 5 p.m. and 7 – 9 p.m.  The funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at 1 p.m. Reception to follow in the church hall. A private family interment will take place.
