Obituary of Bryan Gleason

June 27, 1939 - February 5, 2019

Passed away peacefully February 5, 2019 in residence at Columbia Forest Long Term Care surrounded by family after his 14-year battle with Alzheimer’s.

Survived by his life-long and loving wife (Yvonne) Bonnie Gleason (née Grant), his children Bonnie Gleason, Moyra Harron, Grant Gleason (Stéphanie), Paul Gleason (Tara), & Erin Gleason.  Greatly missed by his grandchildren Brittany, Matthew, Kelsey (Stephen), Ava, Liam, Olivier, and great-grandchild River.

Predeceased by his parents Samuel Bernard (Bud) Gleason and Edith Gleason (née Ryan).

Bryan was a loving and devoted husband and father, who loved children, and dedicated his life to teaching and guiding young minds and hearts.  He spent 35-years as a teacher and Principal for the Sudbury Roman Catholic Separate School Board.  Bryan spent 21 of those years as Principal of Pius XII where he left a legacy of integrity, learning, and understanding for the generations of students, parents, and teachers with whom he taught, guided and mentored.  Bryan was a role model for leadership and organization in education, with a great sense of fairness only outdone by his even greater sense of humour.  As a devout catholic, Bryan will be remembered for his numerous contributions to the church and the greater communities in which he lived and served.

There will be no visitation in accordance with the wishes of the family.

Bryan’s life will be celebrated on Saturday, February 9, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, 80 University Avenue West, Waterloo with Fr. Freitas, Celebrant.
