Obituary of Katie Sandtner

Sandtner, Katharina (Katie) nee: Zoppelt

 

Passed away peacefully, at the Terrace on the Square, on Wednesday, February 13, 2019 at the age of 95 years with her daughters at her side.

 

Predeceased by her beloved husband George in 2007 and her daughter Hildegarde in 1956, her brothers Fritz and Hans Zoppelt and her sisters Ziri Stolz and Susi Blaschko.

 

Katie is survived by her two daughters Hermine (Rob) Brown and Rose (John) Zeller and, her grandchildren Steven Brown (Louise), Kristine Locking (Mark), David Brown (Jordan), Sherri Zeller (Chris), Mike Zeller (Samantha) and her great-grandson Makinley George Locking.

 

Together with her husband, Katie travelled extensively over the years and loved to spend time with her pride and joy, her grandchildren. She will be remembered for her baking, cooking especially her doughnuts and tortes, her love of gardening that included over 150 rosebushes and at the retirement home her smiles and hugs.  She was a member of the Transylvania Club for over 53 years.

 

A Memorial Service to celebrate Katie’s life will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, February 15, 2019 at 11:00 am. Reception to follow in the Fireside Reception Room.  Cremation will have taken place and interment will be at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.

 

The family wishes to extend a special thank you to Dr. Witmer, Jennifer, Care Partners, Dr. Yew, nurses Margo, Gillian and Pearl as well as the fabulous staff and residents of Terrace on the Square.
