Obituary of Kathleen McVey

Passed away peacefully at Freeport Hospital, Kitchener on Thursday, March 14, 2019 at the age of 99.

Loving and devoted mother of John and his wife Janice, Janice and her husband Andrew, Patricia and her partner Jeff Nickel; mother-in-law to Lynn McVey; very proud grandmother of David (Karen), Kelly (Ed), and Ryan (Melody) McVey;  Jeffrey (Carly), Laura and Robert McVey; Emily (Jeff), Kenneth, and Drew Jackson; Christina (Curtis), Stephanie (Andrew), Lauren, Michael (Edita), Kevin and Aaren (Tommy) Gatchene; great-grandmother of Jacob, Marcus, and Lucas Nelson; and Caleb, Keegan, Kyle and Ryan McVey; Cynthia, Paton, and Aliya McVey; Emerson and Finley Knischewsky; Luke Policicchio; and Mason Gatchene.

Kathleen was predeceased by her loving husband H. Grant McVey, son David McVey and sister Edith Hinder.

Kathleen was born January 31, 1920 in Toronto and has lived in the family built home in Waterloo since 1965.  She was the consummate loving mother and homemaker, taking tremendous pride in the many accomplishments of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Her charm and quick wit, youthful spirit, and compassionate heart will be forever cherished in the memories of all who knew her.

A Memorial Service to celebrate Kathleen’s life will be held at Highland Baptist Church, 135 Highland Road, West, Kitchener on Thursday, March 21, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Das Sydney officiating.  A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.
