So sorry for your family's loss. Vera Good was my grade one teacher at Riverbank School. I remember her well.

My 11 year old son is obsessed with the world atlas book he got after Mrs Good's move from a Kitchener residence. Tonight he fell asleep with it. I think of the inscription Mrs Good made on the atlas as a magic spell.

I first met Vera in 1972, soon after she married Antoni Nowakowski [my father's uncle and my great-uncle]. Sadly, their lovely romance was short-lived when Wujek Tolek [Uncle Tolek] was diagnosed with cancer. I was in my mid-twenties at that time, and my relationship with Vera deepened after his death. I remember visiting Vera at the house in Rosedale a number of times, especially in early December, and sitting enjoying tea in the greenhouse, where she grew paperwhites. I still think of her every Christmas, when I smell these lovely blooms!
Vera then moved to Simcoe, and I remember visiting her with my parents and my young daughter. Although distance now separated us, our family stayed in regular touch with Vera through emails and phone calls. She was very kind to my brother, my sister and me when my father died in 1996. And, again, when my mother died in 2008.
Whenever I think of Vera, I think of grace and generosity and kindness.... a gentleness that surrounded her whenever I was in her company....
It was an honour to celebrate her 100th birthday with her, and the publication of her biography.
My sister Irena, my brother Mark and I are immensely proud to have had Vera as our Great-Aunt! And it was an extra-special gift to discover that Vera played such an important role in the creation of a television program that all our children cherished when they were little — Polka Dot Door, of course!
We love you, Vera.... And we'll miss you....

Dr. Good was an amazing individual and an integral part of making TVOntario the highly respected educational broadcaster. I designed the logo, the animated openings, and other graphics for the startup of the Polka Dot Door, so I can remember the early production meetings with Dr. Good, the producer/director Peggy Liptrott and other members of the team. Vera's leadership role resulted in the Academy of Canadian Cinema and Television giving Polka Dot Door a Masterworks award, calling it a "groundbreaking children's educational series" that "changed the nature of children's television programming" and "impacted countless young Canadians and raised the international profile of the Canadian television industry." It also resulted in the creation of Polkaroo, the series personality that brought so much enjoyment (and learning) to millions of children for over twenty years! Thank you, Vera!

Thank you for everything that you did. The Polka Dot Door was one of my favourite shows as a kid. 103, wow! What an incredible journey. R.I.P, Vera.

As an educator, I am thankful for the amazing things which Vera Good did for education. As a woman, I am inspired by the life she led as a positive role for improvement. As a Christian, I am thankful for the blessing that Vera Good was to this world. She will be missed. However, her contributions will live on far into the future.
