Obituary of Corinne Abrahamson

Corinne Manghi Abrahamson, beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend went home on March 24th at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her father Enrico Manghi, mother Mary Baldasarre Manghi Cardone, stepfather Biagio Cardone, as well as her husband of over 40 years, Edwin William Abrahamson.  She is survived by two daughters Carla Funk and Kirsten Abrahamson, as well as her four grandchildren David Behrens, William Funk, Emily Baker, and Elijah Abrahamson.  Corinne, born in Manhattan NYC, was an accomplished artist and musician. She developed her love of music and the arts growing up backstage at the Metropolitan Opera house, which she imparted to her children. She was a treasured friend to many.

A funeral service celebrating Corinne’s life will be held at Christ the Saviour Antiochian Orthodox Church, Waterloo, on Wednesday, March 27, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. A memorial service celebrating Corinne’s life will be held at a later date.

Corinne was a lover of all animals, and always had a cat in her life. Her last few months were spent at Freeport Hospital Palliative Care, where Henry,the family cat,  came to visit her every day. She loved him dearly, and he brought her enormous pleasure and solace during these final months. Henry was rescue kitten. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations in Corinne’s memory can be made to Simba’s Cat and Kitten Rescue where Henry was adopted. It is a small, grass-roots group of big- hearted people who do phenomenal work for cats in Woodstock Ontario. They do not have charitable status, and run with extremely limited resources.
