Alyce Hiebert

Obituary of Alyce Vera Hiebert

Alyce left us in the early hours of Tuesday, March 19, 2019, peacefully, and surrounded by a family affectionately remembering her love.  She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, many talents, a zany sense of humour and a disarming smile that flashed ever more readily as her cares slipped away.

Missing her is a devoted husband of 65 years, Victor Hiebert, a brother, Waldo (Donna), in Hillsborough, ON, a sister, Joyce, in Köln, Germany, as well as her three children, Cheryl, Philip and Cynthia (Ludwik).  Her greatest joy came from her grandchildren: Gabriel and Isabelle.  Gabriel succinctly summed up his feelings at age five, "Yes, I like my Opa, but I really like my Oma!"

Her family will never be able to adequately thank the extraordinary staff at The Village at University Gates for their affectionate care and the beautiful environment they created.  Also appreciated is Maria Tataryn, for her constant friendship to Alyce, in sickness and in health.

Alyce is united in heaven with her parents, Katherine and Abe Redekop, as well as her sister, Florence (and John) Heier.

A visitation celebrating her life will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Thursday, April 4, 2019 from 6:30 - 9:00 p.m. and at Grace Mennonite Brethren Church, 546 Belmont Ave., Kitchener on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 12:30 - 1:30 p.m.  The funeral service will be Friday, April 5, 2019 at Grace Mennonite Church at 2 p.m.

If desired, memorial donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Waterloo or Sunnyside Foundation (Community Alzheimer's Program) by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
