Obituary of Joseph Ignatius Strauss

Passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, March 31, 2019 at the age of 82 years. 

Loving husband, best friend and soulmate of Dianne (Moser) Strauss.  He raised two children of whom he was very proud, daughter Tracey of Toronto, son Trevor (Jody) of Waterloo, and adored his grandchildren Gabbie, Chloe, Hannah, Ellie and Samuel.

Survived by Florence Moser, Ron (Candie) Moser, Shirley Moser, Wayne (Dianne) Moser, Dennis Moser, Karen Moser and Lance Roberts along with many nieces and nephews. Robert, Marie Henhoeffer, Sandra Haid, Raymond (Donna) Haid, Helen (Bruce) Golden, Barbara (Andy) Detzler, Brian Haid, Leonard (Marj) Haid, Joan (Len) Dietrich, Donnie (Brenda) Haid, and Anna Strauss. 

Predeceased by Matilda (Lawrence) Haid, Ottilia (Andrew) Strauss, Felix, Aurilia, Clements, Albert, Leander, Linus and Alex Strauss, Caroline (Leo) Hicknell, Luwina Kraemer, Gerry Henhoeffer, Carl Haid and Gilbert Moser.

Joe was a long-time, dedicated employee (28 years) of J.M. Schneider’s,  a member of the Greenwood Rod & Gun Club and he enjoyed going to the Memory Boosters and the Circle of Music. Joe loved country music, dancing, driving his tractor, playing cards, hunting, fishing and being with his family.  Joe also was an avid traveler and voyaged to many countries curious about the cultures and experiences abroad.  Joe was an active member of the St. Clement RC Church, including the Retrofit Fundraising Committee.

The family would like to thank the University Gates for their support and care while attending their programs. 

Friends are invited to share their memories of Joseph with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Wednesday April 3, 7-9pm, Thursday April 4, 2-4pm & 7-9 pm (Parish Prayers 7pm). The Mass will be celebrated at St. Clement RC Church, 3619 Lobsinger Line, St. Clements on Friday April 5 at 11 am. Reception in the St. Clements Community Centre. Interment at St. Clements Cemetery in the Spring.
