Obituary of Doug Kennedy
In his 76th year, surrounded by family at Lisaard House, on Friday, April 5, 2019 after a brief battle with cancer.
Beloved husband of 52 years to Margaret (Peggy). Treasured father of Heather, grandad of Kyle Pickering, brother of Terrence (Terry). Doug also leaves behind nieces Sheryl Carriere (Garry), Cherie May (Doug), Delanne Kuehl and Kelli Kennedy, many great-nieces and nephews, and one great-great-niece.
Predeceased by his parents Clarence (1991) and Pearl (1989).
Born in Brampton on September 27, 1943, Doug lived in Georgetown until his mid- teens when his family moved to Kitchener. Doug followed his father into the Lions Club of Kitchener in 1964, becoming a Life Member in 1988. He served on the board for many years as President, Past President, and longtime Secretary. He was a Zone Chairman for one term and Cabinet Secretary for two terms. In his 50th year of service in 2014, Doug received the International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation. He previously received other awards including Presidents Appreciation, District Governor Lifetime Achievement, and the Melvin P Jones award, the highest form of recognition in the Lions.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Doug with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, April 10, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 11, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Reception to follow the service with interment at Parkview Cemetery.
