Obituary of Dorothy Irene Palmer

1921 - 2019

(nee Horton)

Dorothy passed away peacefully at Columbia Forest Long Term Care in Waterloo on Saturday, April 6, 2019 in her 98th year.

Predeceased by her husband Clarence Frederick Palmer in 1994.  Loving mother of Ruth Anne Kochanuk (husband John Kochanuk who passed away in 2017) and Patsy Murray and husband Clark.  Nana to three grandchildren, Kimberly Kochanuk (Anthony Trenton), Blake Murray and Jenessa Murray and great-grandma of Haven Ray Murray.  Dorothy is remembered by her sisters-in-law Jean Catherine Palmer and Jean Pauline Palmer, many nieces and nephews, and lifelong friend Marion Orchard.

Dorothy was born in Shedden to parents Blake Horton and Gertrude Baird.  Dorothy was a member of Bethany United Church in Shedden where she was organist and involved with the United Church Women and Sunday School.  She was a piano teacher for many years and enjoyed gardening, crocheting, needle work, and embroidery.

Dorothy’s family will receive relatives and friends at First United Church, 16 William St. W. (at King St. S.) Waterloo on Friday, April 12, 2019 from 10:00 – 10:45 a.m.  where the funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m.  A reception will follow in Hilliard Hall at the church.  Interment at the Shedden Cemetery at a later date.
