Obituary of Adalbert Kunsch
Passed away peacefully April 20, 2019 at Lisaard House in Cambridge after courageously battling cancer.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of over 50 years, Ruth Kunsch, and his daughters Jocelyn Kunsch (Peter) and Deborah Kunsch (Kevin). He is also survived by his supportive brother Herb Kunsch (Janet) and caring sister Margaret Hirn (Michael), along with many nieces and nephews, and three step-granddaughters.
Bill was predeceased by his father Matthias Kunsch and his mother Julie Hoheneder.
Bill was born in Eisdorf, Slovakia in 1938. His family moved to Canada in 1948 and settled on a farm near Baden with his grandparents, where Bill’s love of horses grew. His schooling brought him to Queen’s University in Kingston, after which he taught high school in Kitchener for many years, focusing on mathematics.
In the early 1980’s Bill and Ruth became the owners of a Waterloo business – the Donut Castle – where they served the local uptown community for over 14 years.
Bill’s family and friends will remember he loved animals, enjoyed stamp collecting, music, reading, a good game of cards or crokinole and especially gardening. You could often find him in his backyard planting, watering, and tending to his many plants, trees and flower beds.
His family would like to thank the wonderful care givers that made such a difficult time easier for Bill and those closest to him. A special thanks to the palliative care team, the home-visiting PSWs and the staff at Conestoga Lodge. The family is particularly thankful for the thoughtful and caring experience during Bill’s stay at Lisaard House. His final days there were peaceful and full of love.
Bill’s family will receive relatives and friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. as well as Wednesday, April 24, 2019 from 10-11 a.m. A Memorial Service to celebrate Bill’s life will be held in the funeral home’s chapel on Wednesday, April 24, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Reception in the funeral home’s Fireside Reception Room will immediately follow the service.
