Obituary of Margaret Julia Coffey
Passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving children, at St. Mary’s Hospital on Saturday, April 27, 2019
Margaret is survived by her children Ann (Murray) Crawford, Maureen Coffey, Mark (Denise) Coffey, Andrea Craig, Carolyn Coffey, Sheila Coffey (Ian Newall), her grandchildren Mark (Kathleen), Daniel (Stephanie) and Patrick (Alex) Crawford, Yvette, Elise and Paul Coffey, Kevin, Kathryn (Ryan) and Erin Craig, Robert, Elisabeth and Gavin Newall, as well as her great granddaughter Margaret “Mae” Crawford. She is also survived by her sister Madeline Heughan.
Margaret was predeceased by her husband Wilfrid Coffey, her parents James and Mary (nee O’Reilly) Lynes, her siblings Helena (Patrick) Kloepfer, John Lynes, Daniel Lynes, Dr. Frank (Maria) Lynes, and her brother-in-law Gordon Heughan.
Margaret was devoted to her faith and her family, and was a loyal parishioner of St. Francis of Assisi Parish in Kitchener. She had a rewarding career as an educator with the Waterloo Region District Catholic School Board. Margaret remained a life-long learner who never lost her curiosity and yen for travel. Our mom will be remembered for extending her kindness to everyone.
Our family would like to extend a sincere thank you to mom’s private caregivers, the caring staff of Luther Village and the staff of the fourth floor at St. Mary’s Hospital.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Margaret with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, May 3, 2019 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. Parish Prayers will be held at 7:45 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi RC Church, on Saturday, May 4 at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at Woodland Cemetery and a reception will be held in the Parish Hall of the church.
