Obituary of Verneda Melba Russell

At the age of 94 Verneda passed away peacefully at Sunnyside Home on Monday, May 6, 2019.

She was born and raised in Kitchener. She was a beloved wife of the late John E. Russell. Loving mother to David and wife Jane Russell, granddaughter Krista and husband Jack Tarasiuk, great-granddaughter Hailey. Dear sister of June and husband Laverne Chambers.

Predeceased by her husband John E. Russell 1996 they were married for 51 years. Parents George & Hilda Isreal, her brothers Arthur, Clarence and Earl Isreal and sisters Patricia Noemer, Esther Buschert, Doris Ratz and Gladys Storer.

Verneda was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, she was president of the Ladies Aid Society for a short few years and a resident of group 3 and 13 for over 30 years. She volunteered at Freeport Hospital for 15 years. She participated in the Women’s Missionary Society for over 10 years.

Visitation from 11a.m. - 1 p.m. on Friday May 10, 2019 at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S Waterloo. A Memorial Service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home, followed by a reception.  Expressions of sympathy, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society and Diabetes Canada.
