Obituary of Charles William McWatt
Charles William (Bud) McWatt passed away peacefully on May 29th, 2019 at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, at the age of 90.
Bud will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 65 years, Ramona (nee Bird), his daughter Sharon Caron (Brad), Rick (Jacquie) and Robert (Kim) and his grandchildren Peter Caron (Marie), Laura Pottie (Jason), Richard, Sydney and Elias McWatt and great-grandchildren Carter and Emilia Pottie.
Bud was born on February 16, 1929, in Fort Frances, Ontario to Charles and Cicely McWatt. Starting as a youngster and into his married life, Bud was active with the Fort Frances Town Band. He took great pride in playing the Last Post to honour those that had passed. Bud served in the Royal Canadian Artillery from 1943 to 1946 and was a proud member of the Royal Canadian Legion since he joined at 18. Bud worked for the LCBO in Fort Frances and was transferred to Glencoe in 1962. As a field auditor, he moved to Waterloo Region in 1977 until his retirement on August 31, 1988. Most recently, Bud resided in Cambridge at Heritage Meadows and Fairview Mennonite Home.
Bud had a passion for woodworking, which benefited everyone he knew, especially his family. Children, grandchildren and many friends all have something he made, from a playing-card holder to full kitchen cupboards and bedroom furniture.
