HANEK, Katharine

Katharine Hanek passed away peacefully on Friday June 21, 2019 at St. Mary’s General Hospital at the age of 90. Predeceased by her beloved husband Michael in 2011.  Loving mother to Gerlinde Laurin (Gaetan), Richard Hanek (Suzanne) Eric Hanek and Elizabeth Peters (Andrew) all of Kitchener.  Proud and loving Oma to Kirk (Tara Lane), Nicole (Steve Ward), Scott (Lauren Dawson), Aaron, Benjamin, Alex and Derek.  Will be sadly missed by sisters Maria Wilging and Sophie Hendel.  Predeceased by her sister Anna Emrich and her brother Johann Emrich.

Katharine was born in Heidendorf, Romania and was a long time member of the Transylvania Club as well as St. Peter’s Lutheran Church.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Katharine with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Monday, July 1, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.  The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, July 2 at 11:00 am in the chapel of the funeral home. A reception will follow in the fireside reception room. Cremation will have taken place and interment will be at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo
