Obituary of Gizella Tawil
July 29, 1939 – July 6, 2019
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our loving mother, Gizella Tawil after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Eternally with her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, Gizella will be missed by her adoring children Christina, Mark (Isabelle), Hany (Chris) and her grandchildren; Jacob, Emma, Grace, Antoinette, Etienne, Benedict and Sebastian. Predeceased by her parents Joseph and Teresa (nee Gutyina) Konya. Throughout her life Gizella had an unwavering faith in God, which she shared, with all of those around her.
Gizella’s commitment to God, her family and community was significant. She cared deeply about her children, grandchildren and many close friends. A volunteer’s heart, she was selfless in her involvement with her volunteer work at Thrift on Kent, which she continued until four months ago when her illness no longer allowed her to make the trek into work. Gizella had a great sense of humour and was an easy person to talk to. She quickly made friends that were a source of joy and support to her. She loved her time at her church, Country Hills Missionary.
Gizella fled Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian revolution to make a better life for the family she didn’t yet know. This unselfishness and courage became key traits in her life, throwing her efforts and love into raising her three children. She raised them with unconditional love and with countless daily kisses.
The Tawil family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the team at Innisfree Hospice in Kitchener Ontario, where the staff made Gizella’s last days comfortable and pain free. Gizella’s family is eternally grateful for the support and care that the staff provided to Gizella and her family during the last few weeks.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Gizella with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Friday, July 12, 2019 from 2:00 – 2:45 pm. A memorial service will follow in the chapel of the funeral home at 3:00 pm with a reception in the Fireside Reception Room immediately after the service. Cremation will have taken place.
