Bev (Karol's wife and my sister) and I referred to Karol as "the bear who's always there" because
like Pooh, a favourite of his, he had a trusting and generous spirit and could be depended upon
whenever you needed him.
Karol was also the soul of humility. You couldn't compliment him. He would always deflect words
of praise, usually with humour. During his early days in hospital he thanked me for bringing Bev and favourite foods to his bedside every day. "I don't deserve this " he told me. I reminded him sternly of his twice-daily visits to me for six weeks when I was laid up with a broken ankle. He would come in the morning bringing coffee from Tim's (ah Tim's, a whole other story), sit and chat, look after my cat's litter
box and food, then leave with a to-do list. He would return later in the day with groceries and laundry, sit and chat, look after my cat's needs then head on home. I "owe you for all that" I told him. He just smiled and replied "I like your cat".
So many of these kindnesses and sweet stories will always personify Karol to me.

My sincerest condolences. Mr 'C' was my grade 6 teacher in the late 70s at St Agnes. I remember very few teachers but I remember Mr 'C' very well and very fondly. He always stood out as someone who really cared, challenged us and helped prepare us for Jr. High at St David's. I still remember some of his 'questions of the week', a playground project we did and learning to spell his last name properly as it was on our spellig tests each week. He made such an impression on me that I remember looking him up when I was in university - I think he may have been teaching at St Mike's at that point and I was at WLU and we went to lunch. I hope I was able to let him know the positive impact he had on me. He was one of the good guys and a great teacher. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I had mr. Czarniecki as a gr. 6 teacher at st. Agnes school not only for one year, but 2 years. He was an amazing teacher who cared about each and every one of his students. I have thought of him since then, quite often. He will truly be missed.

Mr. C was an amazing teacher! As we graduated from grade 6 and left for high school he made us feel confident in what we learned and in our abilities to succeed in the future. His kindness, sense of humour and dedication to teaching will be remembered fondly.

Karol, Julia and I have been friends since high school. Although we attended different schools we met through their parents and mine. We struck up a friendship and met mostly on weekends especially at dances where we met plenty of girls because we loved dancing. Karol would borrow his father's car on weekends and we traveled to Welland and St. Catharine's going to car shows and to A&W to see any hot cars on a Friday night. Karol had a wonderful sense of humor and we told many stories on our trips. He was one of the kindest people I ever met and Julia added to any stories Karol missed.
After I moved to Alberta, found Lucille at a Christmas party in Edmonton and got married years afterwards we only kept in touch when I visited my family in Port Colborne. These visits were few and far between but the conversations we had then were so easy because with Karol It was just continuing our last conversation. I'm very glad that Lucille and I had the opportunity to meet Karol's wife Bev as well. She is also an easy person to talk to and there were never any silent pauses when we got together. Karol made everyone feel special when they were around him and I especially am grateful to him and Bev for stopping in at my mother's home whenever they came to Port Colborne. Mom appreciated and loved all their visits.
Lucille and I will never forget Karol and we know that everyone who spent time with him felt the same way. Karol, we loved you then and we will never forget you. You lived a life worth living and enjoyed everything God gave you. I can only hope that we see each other when my time has passed. We can choose our cars (your Stingray and my imaginary Porsch 911) and take them for a heavenly ride through the clouds. You can choose any songs on your radio and I'll be playing the Four Seasons on mine.
Love, Henry and Lucille

We are saddened by the loss of our good friend Karol. He was a kind and generous man who was always the first to offer you help. To our daughters, he was their Uncle Karol, whom they loved dearly. Karol made the time to visit and talk to them, encouraging them and proudly cheering them on to their accomplishments. He attended their sport events, birthdays, graduations and family gatherings. He prepared an annual spaghetti dinner for us, complete with leftovers, the night before each school year started because he knew how busy we would all be. He cared for our cats when we were away and was the only male our dog would not bark at. We feel so bad that we are away right now and cannot be there to help. Our hearts go out to Bev, his sister Julia, his sister in law Mary Lou and sweet Toby.

Dear Bev and family. Sweet, kind, generous Karol will stay forever in our hearts and memories. I see his smile and hear his laughter. I had the pleasure of many interesting, informative and often funny conversations with him at school, your home and ours. Good times. He was always ready to help whether it was with advice or actually doing the job. Such fun we had with Leroy/Spike and your kitty babies. He was a "giant" of a man. It was our privilege to call him friend. Condolences on your loss. Love from Colm and Eleanor Kerr
