Obituary of Debbie Price
Price, Debra Jane (Debbie)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Debbie, who was suddenly taken from us in the early hours of Sunday, August 4th 2019 at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener, after a short but courageous battle with cancer at the age of 57. She will be greatly missed by her husband of 35 years, Nigel, her children Andrew (Ali) and Rhiannon (Craig), and her loving ‘fur-babies’ Shadow and Charlee. She will also be fondly remembered and missed by her surviving family in the United Kingdom and Florida.
Deb touched the lives of many patients and colleagues during her career of nearly 40 years as a Registered Nurse, most recently working in the Oncology Unit at Grand River Hospital. Her care and compassion for helping others was also illustrated in her extensive volunteer work, most significantly as a long-time volunteer with Track 3, assisting children with disabilities to enjoy the experience of skiing.
Debbie had a passion for travel, adventure, and making the most of every moment. On a recent trip of a lifetime, she enjoyed the scenic beauty and wildlife of Alaska and while in Hawaii, swam with a sea turtle, which was the highlight of her trip. Debbie lived life with no regrets, finding positives in any situation, ensuring to raise joy in those around her.
Debbie will forever be a shining light to all of those who knew her.
We would like to express our sincere gratitude to those who have provided their love and support through this harrowing time of need and thank the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital, Grand River Hospital, and the local WWLHIN team for caring for Debbie.
Friends are invited to share their memories of Debbie with her family during memorial visitations at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo, on Monday, August 12th from 6pm to 9pm and Tuesday, August 13th from 12pm to 3pm. Bright colours are encouraged; blue was her favourite.
A private cremation ceremony has already taken place.
In lieu of flowers and in honour of Debbie, donations can be made to Pound Dog Rescue or the Grand River Regional Cancer Centre. These may be arranged through the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
