Obituary of Yvonne Marie Manderson

MANDERSON (Vollick), Yvonne Marie

Passed away at Lisaard House on Wednesday, August 7, 2019, in her 83rd year, after a long battle with cancer.

Beloved wife of Lionel for 64 years. Best Mom ever, and a true champion for her kids Brian, Debby Reeve (Bill), Carol Barnard (David), and Allan (Bernadette). Gramma To Casey, Tyler, Amanda, Travis, Kody and Tanner. Great Grandma to Seth, Mackenzie, Sienna and Jade.She is predeceased by her grandson Morris Manderson (Azure).

A life-long lover of music, she began singing as a child on the radio with her cousin Robbie. She was the female lead in her high schools' presentation of The Pirates of Penzance in her senior year. She was a long time member of the First United Church Choir, the Merry Melodies and the Fireside Singers.Her other passion was seeing the world as a walker. Many trails were tramped with Lionel, from the arctic circle to New Zealand and much of Europe in between.Once retired from her job as a receptionist at Grand River Hospital she devoted much of her spare time to volunteering at the Button Factory, the Adult Recreation Centre, and the Noon Time Concert Series at First United Church. In her later years she crafted many beautiful hand knit prayer shawls and christening blankets.

A memorial service will be held for Yvonne for immediate family and close friends.
