Obituary of Edith (Edie) Isabella McEwen

(nee Poulsen)

August 15, 1925 – August 20, 2019

Edie passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by family, at Woodingford Lodge in Woodstock, on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at the age of 94.

Predeceased by her husband of 68 years, Louis Harris McEwen, son William Lester McEwen, parents Nils Bagar Poulsen and Ruth Catharine Sjblom, as well as her brothers and sisters.

Edie is survived by her loving son Gary McEwen and his wife Lynda Baird, daughter-in-law Beth Ecclestone and her husband John, and lovingly remembered by her grandsons, great-grandchildren, and great-great-granddaughter. Also survived by many extended family members and dear friends.

Edie was born in Ottawa and was a member of the Lutheran Church for all her life, eventually becoming a member of Trillium Lutheran Church in Waterloo (formerly St. John’s Lutheran Church).

The family will receive friends at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 from 1:00 – 2:45 p.m.  The funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home Chapel on Wednesday at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Fred Ludolph officiating.  A reception will immediately follow in the funeral home’s Fireside Room.  Following cremation, a private family committal service will be held at Parkview Cemetery, Waterloo.
