Obituary of Vera Mary Ann Butler

(nee Robinson)

Vera passed away at Chartwell Westmount Residence, Kitchener, on Sunday, August 25, 2019 in her 100th year.

Predeceased (2001) by her husband of 55 years, William "Bill" Butler, former mayor of the City of Kitchener.  Loving mother of Patricia Laurin (Larry) of Kitchener, Joan McWha (Peter) of Ottawa, and Brian of Guelph.  Proud grandmother of Greg and Christine (Laurin), and Lindsay, Ainsley, and Tyson (McWha).  Great-grandmother to Benjamin, Andrew, and Jonathan (Greg and Lisa Laurin), William, Alexander and Henry (Christine and Gavin Sargeant), Joshua, Max, and Nell (Lindsay and Joe Whitmore), and Islay and Arran (Tyson and Steph McWha).  Survived by her sister, Pearl Croom of Dryden.  Predeceased by her sister Ruth.  She will be missed by her long-time friend, Miriam Butler.

Robbie was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan and grew up in Humboldt, Saskatchewan.  As a young woman, she graduated as a Registered Nurse from the Brantford General Hospital.  She served overseas in the Canadian Armed Forces as an RN from 1942 to 1946.  Throughout her life, Robbie was a passionate golfer and was a long-time member of the Westmount Golf and Country Club.  She is a former member of St. George's Anglican Church.
