Obituary of David Albrecht
David Albrecht
July 15, 1951-Sept 5, 2019
David Lee Albrecht passed away on September 5th, 2019, reunited with his loving parents Marjorie (2014) and Ervin Albrecht (2019). David is lovingly remembered by his brothers Carman (Carolyn), Dalton (Ruth), Terry (Suzie), and his sister Colleen (Rob). David was an uncle to Julian (Ellen), Daniel (Maria), Laura (Richard), Chris (Rachel), James (Erica), Anthony, Brianna and Tristan. He also had 4 grandnieces Lily, Clara, Mia and Emilia. He was predeceased by his nephew Jeffrey Albrecht.
As a child, David was very bright, fun loving, inquisitive and a leader amongst the neighbourhood children in Copper Cliff, Ontario where he spent his formative years. He was very bright earning high marks in early school years and traded penny stocks and options as a young teen. In his teenage years after moving south to Kitchener, he became withdrawn and had a hard time fitting in. In his early adult life, he worked in the automotive industry and loved to travel and enjoyed classic rock music. He combined this with several trips to California for concerts, including the Altamont Free Festival. He also was proud of his classic muscle car- an Olds Super 88. He was well read and very knowledgeable about European history and wanted to be a teacher. David was diagnosed with schizophrenia during his late adolescence and was treated for it his entire adult life. This illness did not permit David to fulfill his vocation and life aspirations.
The family would like to thank the caregivers throughout his life in London, Cambridge and Kitchener-Waterloo area. A special thank you to the wonderful Nurses and PSWs at Revera Forest Heights Long Term Care, Kitchener where he passed away at peace with his family present.
David’s family will hold a celebration of life in his memory and an opportunity for family and friends to gather at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S., Waterloo on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at 3 pm followed by a reception.
