Obituary of James Douglas Blair

Of Cambridge, Ontario, and Waikanae, New Zealand passed away peacefully, with his wife at his side, in Auckland, New Zealand on Sunday, September 8, 2019 shortly after his 70^th birthday.

Beloved husband of Lorna for 43 years. Loving father of Hilary, her sons Caleb and Asher of Auckland, New Zealand and Douglas (Alison) and their children Hamish and Imogen of Waterloo. His many friends and relatives in both New Zealand and Canada will warmly remember his generosity and spirit for life.

Jim was born in Wellington, New Zealand, met his Canadian wife in Alice Springs, Australia and raised his family in Canada. He was a successful entrepreneur in private label food manufacturing which enabled him to retire early and enjoy nearly 20 years of endless summers in both Canada and New Zealand. He was a past board member of Kindred Credit Union (MSCU), Meritas Mutual Funds and Conrad Grebel University College and he established a charitable foundation to support the many causes he held dear. He was also a longtime member of Rockway Mennonite Church.

Cremation has taken place. Visitation will take place at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, October 4, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Waterloo North Mennonite Church, 100 Benjamin Rd, Waterloo on Saturday, October 5, at 3:00 p.m., with Scott Brubaker-Zehr officiating. Reception to follow at the church.
