Helen Klassen

Obituary of Helen Klassen

(nee Heinrichs)

Helen passed away unexpectedly at home on Wednesday, September 18, 2019 at the age of 82 years.

Helen will be sorely missed by her son R. Victor Klassen (Sue Klassen), daughter Sherri Klassen (David Brulé), grandchildren Nathan Klassen (Aleta Klassen), Cedar Klassen (Mike Hook), Emma Klassen-Brulé and Bridget Klassen-Brulé, and her brothers Victor Heinrichs (Marie Penner) and Vern Heinrichs (Elfrieda Heinrichs). She will also be missed by her many in-laws, cousins, nieces and nephews, and friends.

Predeceased by her beloved husband Aaron and sister-in-law Rosemarie Heinrichs.

Helen was born in Sonningdale, SK and raised in Leamington, ON. As an adult, she spent time in Altona, MB and Toronto before settling in Kitchener-Waterloo. Until hit with fibromyalgia in her early 30s, Helen was a well-loved and dedicated school teacher. With her career cut short, she remained active in her community at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church and was a devoted friend to many. She loved to play games, to plan and host parties and family gatherings, to bake zwiebach and sweets, and to visit with friends and family. We are grateful to all her friends at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church and at Luther Village who brought much joy to her life.

Friends are invited to share their memories of Helen with her family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Friday, September 27, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. The memorial service will be held at Stirling Avenue Mennonite Church, 57 Stirling Ave. N., Kitchener on Sunday, September 29 at 3 p.m.  Reception to follow.  Close family and friends are invited to attend the interment at Woodland Cemetery, Kitchener on Friday, September 27 at 11 a.m.

Condolences for the family and donations to the Mennonite Central Committee (MCC) or Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA) may be arranged through the funeral at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
