My Uncle Karl. He’s been my supporter for 52 years. This man was always there to make my tea/coffee when I showed up or lend and ear to listen to my ramblings. I will miss his advice, his laugh and his steady, even temperament. I could write endlessly my memories over the years of how he was a great uncle, great man, great father and great husband. A true testament to his legacy is my wonderful cousins Chris and Simon. They (with their families) have rallied to my Aunt’s side to provide her with love and support to help her into this next stage of her life. Karl would be proud of them as he never missed an opportunity to do the ‘right thing’ in life. He lived his life to fullest and never let a day pass with regret. I’m honoured to have known him and called him ‘my Uncle Karl’.

This was such a shock. We know Karl as the father and father in law of our next door neighbours out here in Golden, British Columbia. We would meet as he walked his dog Spencer and their dog Bruno by our place. He was always extremely pleasant and friendly. Last Christmas we were treated to an outdoor barbecue at our neighbours' house. Karl and Linda had found a store in British Columbia which sold Schneider's Oktoberfest sausages! It was a memorable evening and they were very kind and generous in inviting us. Two years before when we got our dog from the SPCA he became fast friends with Spencer and Bruno. He was always making solo trips down to visit them. This continued until one night Karl walked our dog back to our house and supplied us with our very first tether!
Sometimes life seems so unfair. We grieve for the Hacker family.

I have fond memories of racing Karl and Spencer to the market on Saturday for the Globe and Mail. I also enjoyed pickleball games. I’ll miss him. Take care of yourself Linda. We miss you at Predatorridge.

I was introduced to Karl through my Dad, the pair great friends up at Predator Ridge where they lived. Many of the visits to see my parents, we (Dad, Karl and I) would go for a beer to catch up. In many of our conversations, Karl would talk about his family and his excitement to be a new grandfather. His family was very important to him. It's those meetups for a beer, those conversations, that for my Dad, he'll greatly miss. Good friends are hard to come by and for my Dad, Karl was considered a great friend.
To his immediate and extended family and close friends, my condolences. Karl will be missed but never forgotten.

We lost a good friend and neighbour at Predator Ridge tragically this week. Karl was a big part of Predator Ridge community with his big smile and his dog "Spencer" by his side on his many walks around the neighbourhood. I have known Karl and Linda since they purchased their first home at Predator Ridge in 2015 - I knew they would be a great addition to this community as we became instant friends. They have embraced the Okanagan Lifestyle in every way and have taken part in so many activities. Karl will be missed by everyone. but not forgotten. He was a proud Grampa of his grandson Karl Hacker - his name will live on. This photo is from 2015 when we first met, it was taken on the patio at Sparkling Hills overlooking Okanagan Lake. Will miss you Karl.

Karl, how lucky were we to spend such quality times together during our last trip to BC this year. Exploring your beautiful new home, the wineries, the landscape and catching up with family activities.
We feel so privileged to have known you, a caring, soft, warm loving person with a quirky personality. Roy will miss his golf partner when we next visit and I will miss your funny comments. We will always remember you with affection from all the recent memories we shared and times past in Waterloo.
Your friends, Anne & Roy
