Obituary of Eileen Mae Turner
Eileen passed away peacefully at Grand River Hospital in Kitchener on Friday, October 4, 2019 at the age of 88. Eileen was born and raised in Kitchener and enjoyed her retirement years in her home on the lake in New Dundee.
She will be sadly missed by her son, Patrick Allan and her loving granddaughters, Amy and Lauren of BC. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and dear friends. The family is very grateful for the special care and attention from Karen Doerner, whom Eileen considered to be a daughter.
Eileen was predeceased by her parents, Dr. Alfred and Bertha Turner of Kitchener; brothers, Dr. Robert Turner of Michigan and Dr. Franklin Turner of California; and sister, Yvonne Weber of California.
Eileen volunteered for the Cancer Society for many years as well as a leader of the Living with Cancer group. She was also a member of the founding committees that brought the Terry Fox Run to Waterloo and opened the cancer resource centre, HopeSpring, also in Waterloo.
A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held in the chapel of the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11 a.m., followed by a reception in the funeral home’s Fireside Room where friends are invited to share their memories of Eileen.
