Margaret Emma Heick (nee Schlote)

With deep sadness we announce that our mother and best friend passed on the morning of Monday October 14, 2019.   

Her family celebrates her life as devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  Her husband of 54 years, Welf, predeceased her in 2009.  She leaves four daughters: Kathy Mathers, Lisa Keeler, Heather Heick and Jennifer Heick (Stefan Karner), and three grandchildren: Jim Mathers (Kaitlyn Taylor), Christy Mathers, and Carolyn Mathers (Christopher Casemore). 

Marg was born and raised in Waterloo, the eighth of ten children born to Fredrick and Dorothea Schlote.  She was very proud of her Waterloo roots and entertained with stories about the people and places in the community. Before her marriage she worked at Dominion Life Insurance Company.  She was also an avid knitter and 5-pin bowler. She outlived each of her brothers and sisters, and was beloved by her many nieces, nephews and their children. 

A celebration of life is planned for Saturday October 26, 2018 at noon to be held at Mount Zion Lutheran Church in Waterloo.  Private interment will follow for near family only.   In lieu of flowers donations can be made in Marg’s name to Wilfred Laurier University’s Development Fund or the Waterloo Region Food Bank.
