Dianna Daigle

Obituary of Dianna Sylvia Daigle

Lion tamer, animal wrangler, zoo keeper, and once Carny.

Caring mother, loving wife (and best friend), and proud grandmother.  Middle daughter to Lillian (nee Verstraete) and Hendrick Schoonbeek, sister of Jeremy (Nadia Defazio) and Kareena Schoonbeek (Norman Kuras), and aunt of Adam and Ashley Kuras-Schoonbeek.  A woman with a deep love of horses, fish and animals, as well as the outdoors.  A thrifty soul who always managed to snatch a deal, for better or worse.  An expert seamstress and furrier, and hobbyist cross-stitcher.  An enthusiast of foreign cinema and exotic cuisine.  Unfortunately, Dianna did not write her own obituary.

Dianna was recently released from the incarceration of her own sixty-year-old failing body.  A long series of cascading illnesses forced her to do things that she abhorred, such as spend her time indoors and put up with her endlessly irritating husband, Lloyd, a lifelong devotee that became a know-it-all by the end, and her two boys, whom she would forbid from buying anything expensive with their own money.  I’ve tried to distill Dianna’s amazing life down to a single word, and “cheap” comes to mind... but also“worldly”, “spiritual”, “adventuresome”, “intelligent”, and lots of other nice sounding words too.  Dianna will be profoundly missed by the know-it-all and her two boys, Nathan with Kim and Lilian Rose Daigle, and Connor.

A funeral and a burial will be nixed in favour of Dianna’s spirit being set free from her corporal form, so that she may be free to travel the universe, although not before fulfilling a lifelong dream of visiting Cuba first. Her bags are packed, the send-off is planned for this Saturday, November 23, 2019 at 10:30 a.m.  The service will be held at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo with an 11 a.m. reading and a 12 p.m. reception, with food (so she’s not hungry on the trip).

Please make any donations for Dianna’s trip to Innisfree Hospice (via Lisaard House Hospice).  Donations may be arranged by contacting the funeral home at www.erbgood.com or 519-745-8445.
