Kenneth Gutscher

Obituary of Kenneth Francis Gutscher

Surrounded by his family, Ken passed away peacefully following a lengthy illness, at St. Mary’s Hospital, Kitchener, on Thursday, November 21, 2019 at the age of 76.

Ken was predeceased in 2017 by his beloved wife of 48 years, Hilda (nee Power).  Ken is lovingly remembered by his children Brad (Chyanne) Gutscher, Shannon (Randy) Higgins, Kyle (Paola) Gutscher, and his six grandchildren Natasha, Nolan, Morgan, Cameron, Anthony and Lucas.  Ken is also survived by his brothers and sister, Lloyd (Alfrieda), Robert (Doris), Geraldine (Tony) and John (Donna).

Ken was predeceased by his siblings and in-laws, Harvey and Pat Gutscher, Eileen and Ernie Malcolm, Ruth and Norm Schnurr, Peter Verbeek and his parents Walter and Antonetta Gutscher.

Ken is also fondly remembered by Hilda’s family and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ken retired from Zehrs after 34 years.  He enjoyed working at the wine store, tending to his flower gardens, spending time with his grandchildren and travelling to visit family and friends.  He loved playing cards, a good rye and lots of laughs.  Ken will be remembered for his great sense of humour, easy going manner and infectious laughter.

His children would like to express their sincere gratitude to the many doctors and nurses who have cared for Dad over the years.  A special thank you to the 7th floor staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their care and compassion over the last couple of weeks.

Relatives and friends are invited to share their memories of Ken with his family during visitation at the Erb & Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King St. S., Waterloo on Sunday, November 24, 2019 from 7-9 p.m. and on Monday, November 25, 2019 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m.  The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Mark RC Church, 55 Driftwood Drive, Kitchener on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Parish Hall.  Cremation and a private family interment will be held.
